Are You Experienced?

One of the best debuts ever. About every track is perfect. Jimi Hendrix has nailed the arrangements so well that the songs sound like exactly how he intended for them to feel. The album opens with "Purple Haze", arguably his most known song. That song has a special meaning to me because it was the first Hendrix song I ever heard. Next up is "Manic Depression", which sounds like a hybrid version of what Zeppelin was to be, followed by "Hey Joe", Hendrix's first single, which is a killer slow blues rocker. The next track is "Love or Confusion", a straight ahead rock with great bass and drums by Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell, respectively. The following two tracks, "May This Be Love" and "I Don't Live Today", are more psychedelic than others. To start side two, we have an emotional ballad, "The Wind Cries Mary". The second track on side two is "Fire", on which Mitchell is the star. The next track is the jazzy "Third Stone from the Sun". The next track is perhaps one of the sexiest songs in rock, "Foxey Lady". To finish off the album, we have the avant-garde "Are You Experienced?". This album is truly great, with long-standing material.
